This stamp is Venezuela Scott type A25, 1893. However, the issued stamp is red violet. 2008 Scott states "By decree of Nov. 28,1892, the stamps inscribed "Correos" were to be used for external postage and those inscribed "Instruccion" were for internal postage and revenue purposes.

In a separate listing it is stated "After July 1, 1895, stamps inscribed "Escuelas" or "Instruccion" were no longer available for postage. Stamps of design A25 in shades different than those listed were printed after 1895"

The only surcharge listed for this issue is a 1904 50c green surcharged "CORREOS Vale B. 0,05 1904" 5c

very common,it was issued to collect funds for schools, but were not popular,so it was given to postal employees as part of their pay. They were sold to exporters who sold them in Europe to the packet trade. Sold in the U.S. for many years in cheap approval sets,so found in many common kiddy collections.
