A little late for Memorial Day, but I only recently came across this list on the USPS web site that offers a detailed look into all of the post offices in the US that have been re-named in honor of individuals whose military or civil service has warranted such distinction:

What I didn't know is that the effort dates back to 1967, but only a select few post offices were re-named during the 1960's and 1970's, whereas the re-naming of post offices today happens quite frequently.
