Hi guys,

I'm Austin. I just moved to US few weeks ago to further my studies. I'm a member of the Philatelic Society of Malaysia. I'm still finding my way in US Philately..

Anyway my friend gave me some postcards featuring the dragon and asked my to make some Maximum Cards using the US Lunar Dragon stamps.. Is it still possible to order the First Day cancellation of the Lunar New Year issue? I know it has been more than 60 days, but are there any exceptions? Or do any of you know any PO having a special local Dragon cancellation?

Looking forward to your replies..

I read your post but don't know the answer. Perhaps check the USPS web site? That wouldn't tell you how to get a cancel after the cancel is expired or whatever though.

Lots of folks are out enjoying the nice weather now so not as many people around to answer. Just be patient a bit longer than normal.

Welcome to America (and SCF) Austin!

I'm afraid you've missed the window of opportunity to get first day cancels on your maximum cards but there are a number of Lunar New Year products available at the USPS website, to include items with First Day cancels. https://store.usps.com/store/browse...LunarNewYear

Thanks for all the enlightenment. Seems like there are no "loopholes" to get a cancel after 60days...

Anyway I think it's quite illogical when you still can get First Day cancellation products, but not the cancel itself...

I think it makes perfect sense. The First Day products that are available for sale were prepared either before or during the time period when cancels were being provided. It isn't cost-effective for the USPS (with all of its financial problems) to maintain a capability to service requests for cancels indefinitely.
