Would anyone be interested in a "coil stamp club." Since coil stamps need to be purchased in strips of 25, and some can't be used for postage (such as the spectrum eagle), I was wondering if people would be willing to go in together and buy and split strips of coils directly from philatelic fulfillment.

Hi apastuszak

I am familiar with coils, but, could you explain what the 'spectrum eagle' is and why it is not used for postage? Out of curiousity, I am thinking of the test stamp with the eagle but doubt if they would be attached to a roll of coils (?) I could be wrong.

The Sprectrum Eagle stamps are printed for "Pre-sorted First Class Mail," which is the kind of mail that a direct mailer generates. Without a permit from the USPS, you can't use these stamps on regular first class mail.

So, you buy a strip of 25, keep 5 for your album, and then are stuck with 20 stamps you can't use as postage.

That may be a wonderful idea you have as I been seriously looking for yet another collecting area. I would be interested.

apastuszak, count me in on this. I don't need PNCs. I would just want a continuous strip of whatever the coils are - for example, the aloha shirts coils that you mentioned in one of your threads. We probably should also rotate who orders thru Stamp Fulfillment rather than just one person repeatedly having to do the leg work. I'm open to any other ideas on making this work. Actually I don't have the aloha shirts coils and would be willing to order them up if they come in a 25 stamp strip and if there are enough other SCF members who would also want to join in. Great idea!

That makes 3 of us. I think we'd need 5 to make it work, since most coils seems to come as 5 different stamps and you have to buy a minimum of 25.

There is a great site for what you are looking for.
Plate Number Coil Collectors Club goes back to the beginnings of PNC collecting. http://www.pnc3.us/pnc3.org/ is worth checking out. It may be all your looking for and then some.
