I don't want to be too wordy because I want to show a scan..back around 1990 I was at a country auction and I saw a cardboard 6 drawer filebox..each drawer 25 inches long filled with #4 glassines of stamps...i had to bid on it..and won it for $190 plus tax..i figured if I sold a hundred packets of mixed worldwide I could get my money back !! I have sold packets for 2 or 3 dollars and it still looks like I have as many as when I started..probably still 1500 #4 envelopes..so if you think its easy to dispose of bulk even flat out giving them away..guess again !!

What about taking one stamp out of each packet, and making "mish mash" packets, these may sell on SCF Just a thought.........

Well, mish-mash IS mixed worldwide. It depends a little bit on how many "different" you can consistently generate, and the place to list such packets is bidStart - lower fees and less sophistication, and PayPal is not mandatory.
If you can make 300 or 500 different, I'd make up (say) five, and put them on bidStart at a fixed price, including postage. And since they're identical, you only ever have to make one set of photos.
If that works, you do it again. And again.
If you're in a large city with an active CraigsList (like I am), I'd list one packet there too. CraigsList is totally free, but there are a few caveats, contact me privately for strategy. |

It goes to prove again that stamps are not commodities. Just because a stamp exists doesn't someone wants to buy it.
Still, you haven't offered your packets lately, and it's time for a summer special. :D |

Its true stamps are not bread..back those years ago I had dreams of being a part time dealer or trading the stamps with others ...i have offered packets of 100 pre 1960 stamps here before..but again..people have so many different collecting interests..i can not get too specific with peoples requests for 3 cents apiece..they would just be clean undamaged stamps... |

philb I think doug222 is wright. Try Bidstart with your worldwide package of used stamps. There is someone from Thailand who load Bidstart with thousands of low value used stamps (singles). Sometime I wonder if he is paying Thai employees 5 bucks a day to do all the work for him. It's the only way he could make money timewise. Daniel |

Phil, I would definitely buy a WW mix of 500 of your country auction material! |

And here's what you tell buyers of your packets: "Spread out your packet of 500 and decide what you want -- for every stamp you take, add 2 of your own duplicates. Keep track so you don't have to count them again. Then re-sell your packet of 600 or 700 or whatever." This doesn't occur to most people. |
