I recently became aware of Sipex labels showing US Civil War Revenues R132, R133 and the $5000. proof. I understand these 3 were printed in color and black and white. Who printed these? Are they commercially available? I do have a black and white copy of the proof.
I don't have the answer to your question but I do have some info on the patents referenced. These are 2 patents that I have studied in my research of re-use prevention.
The James Willcox patent (115,005) was for the use of sensitive paper, sometime called chameleon paper, and is not known with postage applications.
The George Jones patent (101,020) was for dual solubility ink. In addition to the application shown it was also submitted as essays for the 1869 U.S. stamp printing contract and was infact the lowest bidder.
