Too bad. It would have been a very interesting piece. Also, it looks as if there was another stamp to the immediate left.

Wow - you're not kidding. It does make you wonder.

On the second line, did it read "U.S.I.R.", I assume?

No, just "IR" as on the "I.R." ovptd stamps. Stamp to left had date "7/11/9" to go with the "8" here, there may have been stamp to right too, with the "8" to complete the "7/11/9" here.

I would be more inclined to believe that there was a stamp on the right more-so than the left. Neat find!
