Just received a small collection of CSA stamps won on ebay.
Includes a #14, the unissued John C. Calhoun. Not the best quality printing but it will do until a better one comes alone. The paper is a translucent vellum like paper, which apparently was the paper sent from England with the original plates. I have a #7 on this paper, you can almost see right through it. Also got a #7 on rougher later paper.

Also this #11 on paper with an orange cancel. Unfortunately difficult to read the town name, but hope to be able to bring it out with photoshop magic later.

Scott Specialized lists the #11 with an orange cancel at an additional $110 on top of the $20 catalogue value. Not that I'm counting.

Thanks Jeff.
I've been playing with the image of the #11 in Photoshop to see if I can bring out the location of the orange cancel.

I think I can make out ETERSBURG

Could be Petersburg Va?
Any thoughts?

James.. A 9 or 9b would be excellent to get..
Just don't choke at the price.
All I need is a 10 to finish the collection.

Yes, you are correct the stamp's cancellation reads Petersburg. There are other stamp and covers found with this Petersburg marking.

James I know of a piece of free software that makes thing literally 3 dimensional and might help in these situations. I'll see if I can dig it up for you!

I can't seem to find that link to that software and I forget the name of it too..I believe it was in a post about laid vs. wove paper. Sorry.
