Would it harm a self adhesive stamp in any way if I lightly marked the backing paper with a pencil?

I need to mark all these four flags issues, so I can tell them all apart when it comes time to mount them.

Post-It notes are your friends. I use them for a wide variety of philatelic applications.

I put identified stamps in a glassine envelope with a Post-it note on the outside with the relevant information to tell them apart, thus:

They are stored that way until I'm ready to place them in an album.
Cheers, Robert
