Does anyone care to comment on what type of postmark is represented on the following example of a Scott #307? It looks purple in color and appears to start with the word "FAR" on line one, and the numeral "1" on line two--on closer inspection it wouldn't be a numeral "1"...maybe a partial "M" or "N" ... perhaps Far Rockaway, New York?: Once again I stand corrected, as upon inspection of the stamp inverted, it looks as if the letters are "FARM..." or "FARN...":

Although the stamp has only a minor monetary value, the cancellation seems a bit unusual for the time period.

Thanks. I figured it was probably a parcel postmark of some sort, as I have a number of them as well, but never one stamped in purple, although I suppose if a postal clerk had a purple stamp pad handy, there was nothing to forbid using that color ink, as the entire purpose was to cancel the stamp to prevent re-use.

Better than the "marker monkeys" we see today, I suppose.
