Ink Smears On Washington 1 Cent Green

I assume these are ink smears... is this a reconized variety? I can't seem to find my scott usa specilized catalog. The stamp on the right is a normal one for comparison. It's on a postcard with a cancellation date of 1912, the cancellation just missed it.

NO ink smear is a "recognized" variety; they happen one at a time, randomly, may disappear in 10 seconds (the excess ink's "used up," and all may look slightly different.

Ink smears are simply printing anomalies. The stamp is a Scott 405 which was a flat plate variety. In this process the plate was hand polished for each impression. It was quite common for the printed sheets to have some degree of ink smears or areas of under inking.
