Hinged Damage Stamps

When I came across them the damage was already done, they were about to become damaged stamps pasted inside my cigar box. Now realizing the demand for them at present.

you might be able to remove the toning.
There are a couple of threads in here about cleaning stamps.

THANK YOU FOR THAT VALUE INFO. THEY SEEM TO BE STAINED BY THE ACTUAL HINGE ,toning sounds like a timely process are you the expert on this where as it can be worked out between you and I pls let me know. I dont want to cause no further damage.

Hinge damage? or is this from old tape? If it is from a hinge, I'd take a shot at soaking.

Tape damage is very difficult to remove.

You could try several concoctions to remove that. Hydrogen peroxide, acetone, alcohol... Are they worth much? If so, you might want to find an expert restorer.

Those types of stains are difficult (but not impossible) to remove. But keep in mind that all known methods to remove those types of stains will affect the paper so the alteration can be detected if carefully examined. It would be wise to document any restoration you do, lest there be some unfortunate misunderstanding years later if you should sell the restored stamps and "forget" that you had chemically altered them.


Your stamp are the reprints, not the originals. So even in perfect condition, they would be a small fraction of the value of the originals.

Thank you all ,they are part of and old stamp book that has wear and tear I could only save a few pieces ,I don't know the value I was loking for restoration possibilities

That is not hinge damage.
It is the result of the stamps, possibly during the 1960's
being placed in cellophane "selection packets"
They were affixed by companies using fairly modern at the time
butyl style mastic, where one could remove the stamp without apparent damage.
and they were easy to mount in the packet window without shifting.

As you see, time makes a fool of us all.
You will come across this with common selection packet
colourfuls like Monaco etc.
