Is this a common Pre-cancel on this stamp ? It's a Perf 11 so I'm pretty sure it's a Scott 512. Unfortunately it's only a front and not a full cover. Silly me, just realized it's a Parcel piece......

I think you have a PSS Type 236 Precancel. It is not listed as one of the scarcer precancel types, in other words it's relatively common, but I don't have a catalog to know just how common or scarce it might be on the 12c Franklin definitive as shown in your scan. Someone with a Precancel catalog will have to provide you with more information.

Still, it's certainly collectible and you can easily date it based on the handstamp of April 9, 1927.

oddly enough, it is only known inverted on the 12cent
