It is upside down in the picture but what you have is an elusive NCR meter impression. I have a few and treasure them greatly.

It is metered postage. It is a Group E type meter. You can find it and similar metered postage on: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Intern...rica,_Part_1

Yes. A postage meter from the old National Cash Register Co. (NCR). Here's what one of their meters would have looked like:

The more I look at it, I'd say it is an E3 NCR meter.

The machine prints out the meter upside down, so filipo's image is correct after all.
