I posted this on VSC after I made the purchase last weekend, but now have the stamp in hand.

It was advertised on ebay as 2- #26's, and I purchased this one with a legit #26 for $3.58 plus $2 shipping.

It is a definite Type II, with outer frame lines top and bottom (26 wouldn't have the bottom lines), and on the right side, there is an inner frame line that has been recut (which is the difference between a 25 and a 25A).

Really nice one. May be reperfed on the left, but when I spent $5.58 for a CV $550 stamp, who cares? . It looks thin from right to left, so it probably was a reperf, but from top to bottom, the size looks OK.

Thought I'd share......thanks, Ray

If I had to guess I would say it was reperfed on the left-hand side ( the direction Geo. is facing. You got a great deal!

Nice pick-up you have there. Good deal IMO. I also agree about it having been re-perforated on the left hand side. I'd keep 'em!

The bottom perfs aren't original either.

How can you tell the perfs aren't original?

I'm starting to have this morbid thought in my head-- could it possibly be an 11A with fake perfs added?

It wasn't sold as a 25A, it was sold as a 26, which is a $4 or less stamp. I think the only argument for it still being a 25A, is "why would anyone add perfs to an 11A (CV = $15) to make it a 26?

I just may send this one in, but I posted the original ebay link to the experts at VSC, and no one voiced that it could have been a fake.

Thanks to all for your comments on the perfs.........Ray

Paul, uneven spacing between perfs and uneven depth of the perfs are clues to probable fake perfs or reperfed stamps.
