It not major damage. The right hand side of the sheet is wrinkled, as if it was jammed into the tube and pushed against the bottom. I'm not too concerned about it, since I am planning to slice the thing into se-tenants and the edge won't survive the slicing anyway.

I'll post a picture when I get the thing rolled out and flattened for cutting.

Anyone else's sheets have any issues?

I've heard it's a commmon complaint among Press Sheet collectors. One of the very reasons why I choose not to collect them.

I just wonder if anyone returns them because of damage and/or if there is a USPS provision to replace "damaged in the mail" limited production items such as this or if it's just a refund of the purchase price.

I can't return it. There are no more. I either have to deal with it or get a refund. They can't send me a new one....

Get three quotes for a sheet on the secondary market, then submit copies of the quotes along with a letter to the USPS asking them to refund you full purchase price plus the extra needed to acquire the sheet(s) on the secondary market.

This is an item, after all, intended specifically for the philatelic market.

You could have the satisfaction of writing the Postmaster-General a scathing letter, annotated "Copy to" your congressman and your senator.

Bet you get a reply.

If you have not called to ask for a replacement, don't assume there are no more. The Cave holds a very small stock for replacement of damaged/lost items, even though they may tell you an item is sold out. After a brief hold period to accommodate any possible claims, the items held in reserve are sometimes released back into the inventory.

I know this because many years ago when I used to order from the Cave, I was able to get a damaged item replaced, even though it was stated as sold out in the press and also when you tried to order another one.

Also, I can recall at least once when I asked for an item and it was sold out, but then on a whim asked for the item again several months later (item was not even in the catalog any more). Surprise, they had a couple they could sell me!

Of course, this was more than 10 years ago. Maybe things have changed?

What are the chances I get a full refund AND they let me keep the sheet?

I'd be surprised if they gave you a refund and also allowed you to keep the press sheet. The press sheet was bought at FV, no?

Unless they can offer me a replacement sheet, I am not returning it.

sheets arrived with the same damage. The only way to mail these in the tube without damaging them is to cut 2 glassine envelopes in half.
Use each corner of the glassine to place over the corners of the press sheet. Then tape the glassine to the white paper enclosed. This way when the tube is thrown, the sheet will stay intact and not move from side to side. This is how the USPS used to mail them when in tubes. I guess it takes too long to bother to do it right.

Out of 2 press sheets opened so far, one has minor edge damage and one is ok.
