This interesting cover honors a German priest, the Reverend Ferdinand Kittel,
who composed the first Kannada-English dictionary, containing more than 70,000 words.



Kannada is an ancient language and one of the official languages of India,
spoken by 35 million people, predominantly in the southern state of Karnataka.
