Hi All,

I collected US and worldwide years ago when I was a kid, then picked up about 15 years ago and started going after issues from Chile. Then about 6 years ago, I started back in and started up Egypt, because my wife has a huge interest in ancient Egyptian culture. I fell back out of the hobby and collected sports card pretty seriously over the past 5 years. I really want to get back into the hobby, both because I miss the fun I had as a kid, and it appears to be much more affordable than sportscards.

I'm not sure what to focus on, however. I always liked to idea of having a checklist to go after, even though collecting stamps and postal history from a topical standpoint sounds really interesting. I've thought about fish, birds, sports, US presidents, world leaders, and even thermometers (that is my profession), but seem to lose interest and want to switch to another topic regularly.

I'm thinking about picking Chile, Egypt and the US (limited scope, maybe 1900-1965?) back up. I'll take the advice of anyone who wants to give it!

Thanks.

Welcome back. Only you will know what will keep your interest. Diversification is just fine, in my mind.

If you have several interests, then lots of different things that come your way will be interesting, depending on your mood.

And if you set it all down again, it'll still be there when you are ready.

Hello hackenback, welcome!

I'm a person who says it depends quite a bit so, it depends.

Completng a page or a time period of an era or something can be quite a challenge but quite satisfying also. You can get sidetrached into all sorts of thngs, mint, used, covers, cancels, special events, odd stamps, a stamp from each country, all kinds of things.

If you mean which country, well, I think it should be one that fires up your imagination and you are interested in for reasons other than just stamps. Although that is also OK.
