Could one of you expert multitaskers help me make the best use of the next week. My hubby left this morning for Quebec City and won't be back until next Thursday. This means that I don't have to cook, clean up or pick up after him. More importantly I can spread my collection all over the house and leave it until next Wednesday. Now here is my dilemma: I have many countries to sort through and weed out dupes (listen to me I'm starting to talk like a real stamp collector). I have three countries sorted and have started placing them in albums. Do I finish hinging those three countries first or start weeding through the other countries or maybee a little of both??? What would you seasoned veterans do Dianne

I would finish the countries you have already started. That way it is a project that is completed and not just started waiting for you to come back to. There is always new material waiting to be sorted and placed in its appropiate place.
Then again I have piles of stamps, covers, related materials waiting to be organized. Maybe some one else should chime in. |

I would leave the hinging until later. I guess these are already sorted. These can be done any time. Spread the other ones out and sort them, while you have the space to do it. Steve P.S. thank you for the U.S. stamps that you sent me. They arrived today, so now I have lots of sorting to do this week too. I'm still waiting for James to finish sorting through the Aussie stamps, then I will get some together for you. |

OK, I'll be different. I don't like to do the same thing for long periods of time, so I'd jump back and forth between hinging & cataloging/storing duplicates and sorting raw stock for later. |

Thanks for all the input guys I must admit like Swabbie and Bobgggg I like to bounce around and do more than one thing at a time. So: The living room will be for sorting and weeding out dupes as well as getting packets ready for my many new freinds. The Dinning room table will house my American collection to finnish hinging ( I beleive I only have about 8 years left to do. Once I finish those I will work on my Canadian collection. My stamp room will be the command post where I will line up the many small boxes divided into countries like little soldieers for easier access. (In my younger days I was a drill Sargent) Can't wait to get home from work so I can get started. Dianne |

Well here I am alone on the forum on this brisk Sunday Morn wondering what the day will bring. Update on what I have been up to for the first part of my week of bacheloretteness: When I come home from work ( usually around 6pm I eat whatever I can prepare the fastest.), tidy up for about 1/2 hour and get to it. My German Democratic Republic stamps are camped out in the living room and have been there since Thursday evening. I'm almost done sorting them and should be ready for another country this evening. Perhaps Romania? My American collection is neatly place on the dining room table where I have been painlessly trying to figure out what definitive flag goes where. Boy you guys south of the border sure like to complicate things. Anyhow I Still have the early years that I have been avoiding for many reasons but I think I'll start to tackle them next. If I get too frustrated I'll Break out my Canadian collection instead. Anyhow that's the update for now. Dianne |

Sounds like fun! I have a bad case of "Hobby ADD", so I am one to jump around a great deal. Yet I know that I should stick to, and complete, one task at a time. My advice to your original question would have been one thing at a time, but I, myself, wouldn't have been able to do it that way. Good luck, have fun! |

Well guys here's how it all paned out. Hubby got home 3 days early Got about 6 years worth of hinging done on my American Albums. Sorted and Catalogued the stamps from East Germany Got 6 packets of spares ready and to the post office. Considering I worked every day he was gone I guess I did ok Dianne |

Dianne, I think you did a wonderful job and accomplished a lot! Congrats! Now, let's see, the punishment for coming home early is he has to cook for you for 3 days, but the week is already gone! ha How about he owes you 3 days of stamp peace. Gussyboy1 You really sailed thru those US Stamps! I am also saving the earlier stamps for peace and quiet/concentration days. I think I will need a new pair of glasses by the time I get thru figuring those out! |

You can get a lot done if you stay up unitl 2 or 3 in the morning. It's the getting up the next morning to go to work that's the hard part.
I've put hinging and sorting asside for a couple of days. I've been getting packets ready to send.
Gussy, Londonbus, Emma, Bandicoot, Trigg, Rockin and Caitlin.
I have a couple left to do Cim and Gina I won't forget you and I think Greg finally got a couple of bites on his free offer that I agreed to add to so looks like I'll be busy again tonight.

Dianne, This a very nice idea for a thread. Like an online Stamp Diary for the week or month. Makes for very nice and fun reading....maybe others can join in or start another thread with their name in the title. Thanks Dianne for enjoyable reading. Londonbus1.....My wife never leaves home |
