I recently posted a confederate #11 I found in a lot of foreigh. It needed some company so I got this last night at the club

If the perfing is real, this stamp would be valued at 15x the value of an imperf #12 ($20.00)......(perf 12 1/2.....$325.00 mint....$300.00 used)

The perf does indeed measure 12 1/2. How do I tell if the pref is real? I got it for $3.

I looked at that site. Te stamp in question is an Archer and Daley and the perfs are right. I'm leaning toward real due to the fact that there is a very wide margin on three sides. If I were trying to fake it I probably would have Perf'd all four edges.

Any other thoughts?

You know this might not be a bad stamp to send in for an evaluation. I mean you stand to gain if it is in fact OFFICIAL PERFS.

I hope this one is the Official version. Even if it isn't it still is a good find.

Great buy for $3.00 even with the close cut side.
I noticed that the perf holes do not look perfectly
round......makes me think you have found something special.

There are several qualified agencies to submit material to for certification.
I've sent a number of items to the APS and have had excellent results.
I've also seen an ebay auction for a certification by Weiss.....this link shows listings with his certs.
His service is very reasonable and he knows darn near everything about stamps.
It should be easy enough to find a way to contact him. There is also a Confederate Society that has a cert service.
Somewhere I have info.....I get back here later today or tomorrow.

I dont collect Dead Countries and its just
hanging around in a 102 card collecting dust
