here is a cover from Cape Town, S.A and addressed to the UK. it is interesting in more ways than one because the cancels on the front and back clearly state the year 1919 and the back has 1939 plus inverted indicia.

April the 1st may be pertinent!

Before you come to that conclusion
you may have to establish the date includes the year on the
same line as the day / month.
I very much doubt it.

What do you think the date is in the center of the RLO ovals? I have a ridiculous guess, but I wonder what it looks like in hand?

Sorry, I forgot to include that.

The year looks like 1919 to me in the oval cancellation with the last '9' dropped down some.

I also like the inverted '7' in front of "FEB" too.

You could be right Smauggie.

I am including a scan on that area alone and maybe it will show better? It still looks like that there could have been an ink run-off at the base of the '2' but,you could be correct.

Upon looking at the scans of the cancel close up, the end of the month looks like 9D??

Maybe I should quit while I am ahead lol

9D could mean 9am

A very busy cover, lots of aux markings
and a dead letter office seal (I think)

You don't see many cover with poems on them.
