I miss these good old stamp designs and patterns. Modern stamps don't excite me much as these classic stamps do but I collect them just to fill my albums. |

Another vote for the classics, they have a charm that the modern world can't get right. |

Some people think a special stamp has to be worth thousands. Wrong, I think to be really special the collector just has to enjoy it whether it be 25 cents or 25 thousand. One time at a club I saw a collector scoff at a guys used collection that he really enjoyed and the poor guy quite collecting that day. The man that did it had a beautiful collection and very expensive but I no longer regard him as a collector. |

As long as the forum is rather small, we have almost none of that, but as forums grow in size, and I have been on many, individuals of that kind often are attracted as it is a larger audience to impress and to put down beginners. Many on the forum have collections to dream about, but they are not the kind to scorn, but rather to give free packets and valuable time for replies that they may have replied to hundreds of times.
The forum needs and will get new members, and most will be either returning "old timers" or newbies. Maybe one or two will be the type mentioned by 1775mac above. Maybe we need a special smiles to indicate the members think they have gone over the line, like a face with a hand over their mouth. If they are harsh, we can send the "respect others " smilies.

I wouldnt worry too much about folks with bad manners Jim, I remember when I was growing up in the 50's..if someone behaved in an improper way there was always someone nearby to school them... |

I agree in principle, but I also know that to lose someone who is really interested and just beginning to post is serious for the forum since so few post regularly. Anonymous posting gives so much power to a bully.

I agree with Tom Guys We have a great bunch here. Not once has anyone made me feel that my meager collection was unimportant. I do believe that our forum will keep growing slowly but surely. And I think that the ones that have visited for the right reasons have ended up staying. Dianne |

Very nice stamps Lonedan. Maybe one day I will have some like that. By the way I have heard Cim. talk about BOB stamps and I see you used the term to label you pic, I was wondering what BOB means???

When they out together stamp albums they decided to put the misc stamps such as airmail, postage due etc in the back of the book. Thus the term stuck for these stamps. Don't feel bad even though I have been in it for awhile I still learn new terms. |
