Thanks for the welcome everybody , a Wet Brummie too eh ? I like Birmingham , was there for an early computer expo years ago. That and Ozzy Ozbournes a Brummie..gotta love him.
You hit the proverbial nail square on the head David , I cant put in words how pleasing and interesting (time consuming) looking through an old stamp album is.
Ive had it a while now and with the days getting shorter and colder I figure its a good way to pass the winter.
i know absolutely nothing about stamps , other than thats how we used to send mail.
Hopefully ill swiftly learn the basics and get an understanding of what makes a particular stamp rare or special.Ive a feeling I might find one or two in this book as there appears to be hundreds of stamps from all corners of the world.
Ive never actually counted them but its got to be close to a thousand or maybe slightly more.
Putting that aspect aside it'll be interesting to learn a new subject and what better place to learn than alongside the experts.
Ill look forward to many interesting evenings to come :)

That reminds me of a question I had , this album appears to be copyright 1937.How then is it there is a page for Occupation stamps?

i noticed the Canal Zone stamp at the top of the page and thought id post this one to see how it compares.Ive about 1/2 dozen from there.
What I find interesting is it has The American Bank note Co NY at the bottem.
I happen to collect old banknotes and have seen this on some European wartime banknotes.

Wetglas the occupation stamps may be from WW 1..American Banknote Company printed some great stamps ...many for Central America and also some for Canada ...my favorites are the Waterlow printings for Guatemala 1902..you may see images of them in your album !!

That answers that , Yup..your right. My mind is conditioned to associate Occupation with WW2 , these date around 1914-1918.
