Was replying to a post when I saw this advertisement. Might be best to put a filter on the ads that appear or some such thing.

Thanks.

....Damn. Maybe you didn't like the ad because you are young. I was flattered that they want me. I guess I still got it. C'mon let me dream a little.

Okay, here goes the collector in me. You have a picture of hotties with huge racks and I am trying to figure out the cancel and what British stamps are barely showing when clearly I should be concentrating on other things barely covered.

This is to be a family (kid?) friendly place. Besides, I am, strictly speaking, middle-aged. I would rather my temptations be stamp-related . . . less vicious.

Smauggie, I don't profess to know how this interweb ad thing works, but I get a variety of ads when I log on. One I'm looking at right now, for US Coil Stamp Line Pairs, has a button on the lower corner that says AdChoices. When I click on the button it takes me to a Google program which explains where your ads are coming from.
Here's the website...

http://support.google.com/adsense/b...C_ID%3D28556

A long address. But here's the first paragraph:
The AdChoices icon appears on sites that use Google's AdSense program to show ads. While Google often shows you ads based on the content of the page you are viewing, we also show some ads based on the types of websites you visit, view, or where you interact with an ad or other Google product supported by Google's advertising services. In doing this, Google doesn't know your name or any other personal information about you. Google simply recognizes the number stored in your browser on the DoubleClick cookie, and shows ads related to the interest and inferred demographic categories associated with that cookie. It's our goal to make these ads as relevant and useful as possible for you. Google doesn't create categories, or show ads, based on sensitive topics such as race, religion, sexual orientation, or health.

I've underlined one section. Perhaps someone is using your computer when you're not around? Just kidding of course. Obviously the site uses an ad provider, in this case Google's AdSense, which streams the ads they think you want to see.

The ads on my screen is a Silver Bullion peddler and a Chevy dealer waving the Camaro banner. No Cougars here but I did buy a Mustang

It would be prudent reminder to most to delete their cookies and browsing history - even at home.

Mine wants me to convert my 401k/ Ira to gold bullion. Before the elections I was getting ads from the "michingan republican fund" or something similar.

Don't be so hasty to judge. We should meet them and ask them.

I enjoyed this thread. Especially the part where Smauggie got a little red faced. (That's what friends are for) Now that I know what bumping is, I decided to bump it up. While I am at it, I will load it up with those annoying little Smiley's. Smauggie are you going to the Maplewood stamp club Christmas party? I got an awesome cover to show you today. I may post it here tonight.
