I got these three covers in a ebay lot. What I'm trying to figure out is the markings on the back. It appears there may be some catalog of special event covers and the back markings are the ID/Catalog #s. ID 90-461 is the National Corvette Museum Sta. cancelled cover.94-33 is the Mississippi Gem Society Cover and the 95-53 SEAPEX XXXI Sta. cover.

Thanks for any help given

Don

Don,
I'm not sure is there is any sort of complete catalog for special event covers. I wish there was one myself. There are so many event covers out there for practically any event or anniversary no matter how mundane it would be a daunting challenge to cover them all. The numbers on the back could have been added by a previous collecter for his or her organization. The 90 and 94 numbers appears to match the year issued. The second part of the number might be for the order in the collection. Sometimes the numbers on the backs of such covers marks the number issued, but usually that's in the format of something like "56 out of 500" or "24/1000". I don't see any obvious ties between the three covers so again I think the numbers were added later by the collecter or even a dealer for organization.

Battle,

My guess is the collector/dealer numbered all the event covers that crossed his/her desk. A little OCD IMHO.
