I know nothing about FDCs. I saw these and it seemed
like the thing to do. Did I do okay? Really can't
see how this could be a bad deal.

If I didn't make it clear, I don't know anything about
stamps, and when I do collect something, I have a
total lack of direction and tend to collect a little
of everything... Specializing in nothing.

Looks like the stamps are following my pattern
already established with coins and currency.

Here they are.
4 separate auctions, 5 FDCs total. All from one seller,
so I got a shipping discount. Funny thing is my last
name is Higgins too. They are the original owners of
the Mercury covers.

If you're happy with them then you paid a good price. Having the common name makes them special in my mind.

Although I'm strict about what I collect, I tend to hop around within my collections, collecting whatever strikes my fancy on that particular day.

It looks like you're having fun - that's all that counts!

The John Adams just caught my eye due to age.
Anything collectible before 1940 gets me excited.
To tell the truth, after a harder look, the
envelope portrait of Adams is not very flattering!

I like the Mercs due to the original recipient's
name (which is who I bought it from, AND the idea
that it was postmarked at the Cape Canaveral PO.

I was placing .75c bids left and right on this
seller's auctions, and ended up with the Einstein,
even though I really didn't care if I won it or not.
I do that with coins too... I usually win the coins
that I don't really care about, and lose the ones
I really want. I exaggerate... I get some good ones
now and again.

The "Bird" cover caught my eye with the artwork.
I didn't just "have" to win it, but it's nice for
.75c...

I bid a whole dollar on the old cover and the 2 Merc
covers because I really did want to win them.

The more I look at Adams in that all red portrait,
the more I think of the "Saw" movies character!

Isn't it funny what different people like. I find the Einstein stamp one of the best looking in that series.

They arrived today. I must say that they are better
in person. They look brand new! They could have been
yesterday's FDC. Even the 1938.

I guess that has to do with getting cover that has
been in the same ownership for decades vs cover that
has changed hands many times and been through yard
sales and dealers.
