I sorta like the interwoven red, white, and blue star, but all that white background seems to be just too much. Makes me think that the designer just quit after the star and called it a day. It seriously lacks pizzazz.

Remember, those stamps in 3K and 10K coils are primarily for commercial use, not intended for the typical consumer (although collectors can probably get strips of 25 from SFS, if they want).

While I'm not saying the design is particularly attractive, it does have a lot of white space which, for collectors, would make a good stamp to use for pictorial cancellations, as the stamp design won't interfere much with most postmarks.

Sorry Nells, mailed boomerangs don't return

because first you have to throw it!

(low chanting)
In the bad bad lands of Australia many years ago
The Aborigine tribes were meeting, having a big pow-wow
(chanting)
(low voice): We've got a lot of trouble, Chief, on account of your son Mac!
(midrange voice): My boy Mac, what's wrong with him?
(high-pitched voice, young prince): My boomerang won't come back!
(low voices): Your boomerang won't come back
(prince): My boomerang won't come back
My boomerang won't come back
I've waved the thing all over the place
Practiced till I was black in the face
I'm a big disgrace t' the Aborigine race
My boomerang won't back
I want a kangaroo (yeah yeah)
Make kangatoo stew (yea yeah)
But I'm a big disgrace t' the Aborigine race
My boomerang won't back

The sheer volume of stamps I am seeing is seriously throwing me off. The stamp preview page has 18 items on it, and it says "More to come!" on the bottom. It should say "That's all folks!"

To "add insult to injury" the stamp program being announced is only for the first THREE MONTHS of 2013. We can expect more stamps as the year progresses ... although I suspect most will likely be the more collectible commemoratives and definitives, not those higher denominations required for the upcoming postage rate increase.

The fact that they're issuing new definitives is crazy. The definitive is losing it's meaning.

I agree. And it's coming to the point where collectors are going to start being selective about the new issues they collect and not necessarily collect ALL new issues because there's just too many.

As I said earlier, the USPS has only released their stamp program for the first quarter of 2013, and they have still to announce the designs for the America on the Move series (cars of the 60s and 70s); the War of 1812 souvenir sheet and there is apparently yet another Black History/Civil Rights stamp (possibly MLK's "I have a dream..." speech).

Later on this year we can also look forward to another Purple Heart stamp and Wedding Cake stamp (here's an advanced design of the latter):

And it's fair to assume that for the next holiday season we can look forward to both a secular and religious Christmas Stamp and likely ones for Hanukkah and Kwanzaa (as the last two weren't issued in 2012, but were carry-overs from the year before).

I'm not exactly sure when the Muscle Car stamp designs will be released (should be soon, though). In fact, one website is suggesting that issuance may be in conjunction with Daytona 500 events set for the last weekend of February 2013.
