I like it! Notice how the address is stamped in the lower right corner. I never seen that before so that's kind of neat. The cachet is neat too. Looks like you got a nice #C19 on cover.

For country music fans, I believe that's the hometown of Porter Wagoner

Note the 1935 cover references the name simply as "Municipal Airport". Here's more history on the name of the airport. Note it was "constructed" in 1934, but according to the cover was first "opened" on May 26, 1935:

Quote:
The Poplar Bluff Municipal Airport is located on approximately 344 acres, 4 miles east of Poplar Bluff, on a level tract adjacent to State Highway "B" (old U. S. Highway 60) in Butler County. It was constructed in 1934 and originally named Earl Fields Airport as a memorial to the late Alderman Earl Fields, who was also Chairman of the Airport Committee. The name was changed in December, 1950, to Earl Fields Memorial Airport dedicating the Airport as a memorial to those who died while serving as members of the armed forces of the United States in World Wars I and II. In 1970, the name was changed to the Poplar Bluff Municipal Airport and was dedicated to the memory of Earl Fields.

A lot of postmark collectors in the 30's through the 50's rubber stamped their name small in the lower right hand corner. I have bought entire collections addressed this way all going to the same person in each collection. I have been told that they sent a cover to the post office to be sent back to them. Some people were very busy. I bought one collection of 3800 postal cards that all went to the same guy over a 35 year period with three different addresses over time. His final address was walking distance from my old office. I checked to see if he was still there and the current residents were renters that did not know him, but they did tell me that other stamp collectors had stopped by with the same inquiry. So, I guess someone else got a boatload of his stuff too. I bought the whole lot at a live auction for $75.00 about 15 years ago and it was mainly DPO's from the 30's through the 60's. Big score for me and a lot of it is still intact in the boxes it came in. I pulled the Minnesota stuff out for me and once in a while I pull out DPO's from another state and throw them up on ebay. Interestingly, If you turn the cover over you may find pencil notes that tell more of the story, often last day, first day, event, etc. I have found this a lot on these old postmark and event collections.

Kirk: thanks for the info re Porter Wagoner. A little tidbit like that is "icing on the cake" for me.
