I wouldn't even thinking that up! I've read stories of old philatelist and nothing like that was ever reported. I will share something with you I did. I have some GB stamps that had a paper clip that had been there for years. There was a nice mint 2 1/2d 1902 issue that had a stain on it. The stamp was ruined anyway so I soaked it in a little CLR and water. I checked after a couple of minutes and nothing was happening. I got busy and forgot it. After about an hour or more I noticed there wasn't any color left on the stamp. Just a white piece of stamp paper with a paper clip stain still on it!

Al, in your list of what you are lacking, I do have the 459, 461, 505, 519 and the 546. It is funny (strange, not humorous) that when you get the little odd balls, you realize that they look just like all the others. Only you can appreciate that they are special.

I just can't at present bring myself to pull the trigger on the 545, but maybe soon. I always thought the 459 was a real odd ball. It is a horizontal, imperf on all sides, coil.

Rohumpy, Its really great to here you have some of the rarer issues. Some day I may have them. I'm retired and funds are a bit tighter so I'm thinking I may be able to get one good every so often as long as my bride doesn't find out about it.

Wow that's impressive rohumpy! I'm sort of in the same boat as Al E Gator. I just have fun looking at all your nice stuff and buy the odd stamp or cover that interests me once in a while. Lately I been focusing on Tobacco related advert covers and of course the Washington/Franklin issues. I just love to learn is all.

I changed my stupid earlier reply so not to disturb the even flow of the conversation.

This the only hobby where the more you learn the dumber you feel. I can't tell you how many dumb things I've done thinking I know what I'm doing.
