I am not sure where you are seeing the cancellation. Maybe you are seeing what I noticed at the top of stamp, above smokestack of ship, there is a little un-eveness causing a small shadow area. It looks like a dark spot.

Thanks philb I am proud, I am just starting to add to my collection so this stamp is the belle of the ball. For now that is. Until the next one comes along. After seeing that awesome block of Automobile stamps of the same series, posted a few comments ago. I want one of those.

It appears to have a cleaned cancel. The Black smudges are apparent in the upper margin from center to right of Stamp. Can you scan the back ?
Should be able to tell from a good scan if it's regummed. Not saying yours is but it's what dodgy sellers do when cleaning a cancel since obviously if it's used there would be no gum. Some regum and hinge believing that a hinge rules out a regum.

Thanks Stallzer. I put a scan of back up. I never would have thought it might be used. The ad said Mint HR OG but it never said unused. The Seller was CK Stamps. I paid 27 bucks so its no biggie but buying cleaned used disguised as unused is pretty low. If that what it is, it will be last I buy from that seller.

CK Stamps from my dealings has been a very good seller and I've purchased probably 10 times from them and all have been as described.

The stamp has nice centering. But the scan is way to blurry to determine if those marks at the top are on the stamp or smudges on the scanner glass. A sharper scan would help.

Weird...i was just looking at ebay latin America collections and lots and a mint hinged #298 shows up for 23 dollars !!

Thanks I will check out that software that looks like fun. I also will see if I can get better scans. I have my scanner set to 600 dpi because I found if I go bigger the size of images become a problem. I am glad to hear CK Stamps have a ok reputation. I bought another stamp from them for a lot more. I have not got it yet. If it turns out not as described it will be heading back quickly. In fact I may want to send it in for certification. I know I could ship this one back but probably will keep it but be more careful knowing there is monkey business out there. I still love this stamp even though it may have been through the system once.
