Since there are only 4 copies known in the World, I'd say no it's not a B grill. |

It looks like an E grill: 14 x 17 points. One member here on SCF recommended rubbing graphite on the stamp to more clearly show the grill. You can do that but it is unlikely that you will be able to remove all of the graphite. Any graphite that cannot be cleaned from the stamp will probably reduce its value, especially if that is done to a stamp with a high value. On this stamp, the graphite helps to clearly show most of the grill but the bottom of the grill is still not clearly seen. Please post a scan of the face of the stamp. Same, this is a link to a chart that will help you to identify the grills on US stamps http://www.1847usa.com/Grills.htm |

All points will be line up straight in both vertical and horizontal alignment. The horizontal circles at the top center area and in a straight alignment are points except for one which is lower than the other seven. That lower circle may be showing a small break in the paper a little to the right of, and lower than, the center of the point. The six spots circled on the far right and at least four on the top left are probably not grill points. |

Wouldn't it be nice if all grills were well defined. There should be a premium on well defined Grills whether it's a common grill or not. How many people have submitted E grill for Certification only to find out it really is an E grill? And how many stamps with grills do collectors have that don't have positive Identification, simply an "I'm pretty sure it's either X or Y"? |

It is impossible to have this stamp grill type E, because they were issued on 02.12.1868, and postage stamps issued after that date, all F grill. |

Looks to me 14 X 17 points 11 X 13mm(Most likely candidate is E grill) To be a B grill its must be 18 X 13mm and 22 X 18 points |

In does times nobody was paying attention to the grills and usualy they replenish stocks of stamps once they become low and because stamps where same new stock can be put on top of old one, as result even after manufacturing of specific grill has been ended there is possibility of them to apear on envelopes at much later dates. |
