How can I tell if they are pre-WWII? Here's some more pictures.

On another forum, I just (for the first time) offered to swap discount postage for "junk" silver coins, at a suitable premium. Will report on responses, if any.

The example I used was $7 face for each silver quarter, and I indicated I would accept cleaned, scratched, or tarnished coins. We'll see.

Most of what I'm seeing here is from the late 50's to mid-ish '70s so really no premiums involved although you do have the sheets intact and some collect those so it's not a total bust. I like them but I think they would be a bit cumbersome to display & store.

Take a look at the site http://www.1847usa.com/index.htm to find out when U.S. stamps were issued. You can also visit your local library and look for a Scott's Stamp Catalog which is the standard for identifying U.S. stamps.

I see you have some Boy Scout Stamps. I would think that anyone who collects Boy Scout related material might like them.

Until you get your own catalog, or can make it to the library, Mystic's online catalog will help you identify most of the stamps you've shown but you must recognize that Mystic's retail prices are quite high relative to the stamps' value.

The good thing is that you enherited them . Many of us "old timers" had the fortune to buy them new at face value and now have the opportunity to sell them at less than face value

One thing not mentioned thus far........if you have full sheets, keep them intact as full sheets. The complete sheets have more value than partial sheets, known by some dealers as "scrap postage." But again, the full sheets are only marginally more valuable than "scrap." You may also want to check in Linn's Stamp News, a weekly stamp paper. You occasionally will find dealer buy ads for this sort of material. As others have already advised, don't expect to obtain much more than face value, if that.

I myself inherited a bunch of this very same material when my dad passed away 20 years ago this month. I've used maybe 1/4 to 1/3 of it on letters over the years. Now debating whether it is worth any time/effort to try and get the material better organized for possible sale ("translation:" likely a lot of work for little return).
