I was bitten by the stamp bug...

it was well over 60 years ago; it was after reading repeated direct response "approval ads" in Marvel Comic publications ("Superman" and "Batman"). Both had quite an effect on me... that is the "direct response ads" and the "stamp approval ads" in the comic books. They both lead me to two lifetime passions: one a career; the other a hobby.

Now, I'm just a retired "bender-of verbs" and "purveyor-of-junk mail" -- a 60+year stamp nerd with a passion for U.S. postal history that occupies his waking day. I have a daily collecting goal: Learn something new about a stamp or postal history everyday. (and THAT is accomplished ten-fold daily)

My passion includes (but not limited to): 1-Cent & 3-Cent U.S. Large Bank Note Issue Plate Study; Third and Fourth Bureau Issue Rates & Usages; Presidential Issue Rates & Usages; Early U.S. Machine Cancellations & Service Marks 1871-1925; and select Pennsylvania Postal History. (The clerks and stakeholders at STAPLES love to see me walk in the door...)

My past collections of Empire Korea 1884-1905 and Japan Occupied Korea 1905-1945 were exhibited at shows including BALPEX, NAPEX, SEPAD, and others; the collections awarded Gold and Vermeil medals, Postal History Society Medals,(all sit in a drawer) and Korea Stamp Society Awards prior their sale. A copy of both collections and exhibits reside at the American Philatelic Research Library (APRL) in State College, Pa.

I am a past Director in the Korea Stamp Society and was the Publisher of the journal "KOREA PHILATELY". I was an acknowledged contributor to the original "American Stampless Cover Catalog", D.G. Phillips Publishing Co., No. Miami, Fl.

One of my favorite stamps:
