Has anyone figured out a way to soak the Sunflower stamp that came out this year? I have tried several ways and did get it to soak, very warm water up to 45 mins. However the stamp design was so wrinkled that I considered it a failed process.

It appears there are a bunch of 2008 stamps that will not soak.

I have given up trying to soak new stamps. I just leave them on the paper now.

All of the 2008 United States stamps, are unsoakable. Keep them on piece. This trend is likely to continue!

Read a possible solution to the unsoakables on another forum. So as not to step on toes email me for the link. Very in depth read. But simple solution.

Have you tried lighter fluid (e.g. Ronsonol) or acetone (e.g.nail polish remover)? Thought I've seen both mentioned here in the past.

Who would of ever thought Vodka would work. I even have the Photo Flow for the wetting agent, yeah I still have a darkroom in use. Thanks Mac.

Shaken or stirred?

So does it have to be ethyl alcohol or will standard isopropyl rubbing alcohol work? Hate to waste the Vodka if something else will do.

Yes, now that I have the article, I see that. Wonder why.

And neither shaken nor stirred, but agitated, in true darkroom style!

I like mine right out of the bottle, god awful stuff it is. The article said rubbing alcohol did not work. It warned about staying away from the colored stuff because it could stain the stamp. You can reuse it but you need to add a wetting agent like dishwasher soap to help it get through the paper.

Here is a heads up on this one from nr-notrare, reading into it the fix may cause a brighten (bleaching). May need more trial and error to find a permanent resolution.
I guess the USPS really put in some overtime in glue research and development to try and defeat collectors. Not to worry, we are a crafty lot and I know someone will come up with a trick to beat them out.
