I am new to stamp collecting and also to forum sites.

I found you from a recommendation, whilst looking for a program to use so I can catalogue my collection on line.

I inherited the collection, so am learning all the time. I have spoken to my local collectors who advise me that it contains some valuable stamps and some interesting sets. It covers the world and consists of stamps and covers, some mint and some used. Some of it is done and has the SG numbers, but there is a lot to sort out and catalogue. Its quite large and I want to understand it and learn before deciding what I want to collect and keep.

There is very little from USA, so I think the STAMPCATalog Plus program is not suitable for me.

Does anyone know of anything else? I have looked at a few (EZstamp, Busy Bee and StampCat) with no luck so far.

Look forward to learning more and sharing with you.

Love these thanks.

Hello Rowan, welcome!

Sometimes using a spreadsheet or database program, similar to the free Open Offioce program at http://www.openoffice.org/ , can be just as useful as a specialized program.

Thanks I use Open Office already. Its a great product. I am looking for more than this as I am not knowledgeable enough (yet) to set up my own.

However I have downloaded the trial version of StampCat and am looking at it. Seems it works on Linux as well as windows.

I also found out that the reason its not available to buy, is that some internet infrastructure was wiped out. "The problem is with the site which manages payments, the StampCAT site and the forum is up and running. It has been brought to the attention of the software developer, Frederik."

Will let you know if I find out more and how it goes.

Also as soon as I am ready to get your help I will ask.
