Hi, Just joined up, and thought I would introduce myself. I'm 68, retired, and recently got back into the hobby after a 40 year absence.
As a youngster I collected worldwide, but of course cancelled stamps. Newly married in my 20s, I migrated to US issues, and cancelled was all I could afford.
Last summer I was browsing the "net" and began looking at the hobby again. Now I've got two of the Scott National Albums and a fair collection of mint / unused US stamps.
While I have no friends interested in the hobby, I suspect this forum may prove to be a wonderful help in that regard.
Thank you in advance, Mobilman44

Welcome to the community Mobilman44. We like looking at pictures so when you haul out that collection from years ago you will have an audience. |

Welcome, I am sure you will find information and encouragement here as I have. I am like you and don't know anyone in my normal life that collects stamps... for that matter I don't know anyone in my country personally that collects stamps! :)
This is a great place to be.
Happy collecting. Regards Gavin New Zealand |

Hi I am new here too. More on a mission to do "something" with the stamps I had as a kid and my dad gave me for future grand kids than anything, but it is .... temptingly interesting especially with a bulletin board like this and the internet dripping info! Only been here a very short while but I've met some terrific people already! |

Mobilman44 and you couldn't have said it better! This is THE place for friendly stamp conversations! I collect used and not because of budget but because I enjoy a good cancellation. It served it's postal duty PLUS it contains a lot of information (in the case you have a nice SOTN CDS). Again, Welcome! |

Thank you for the welcome! It is appreciated!
May I add........ In 1970 I traded my US cancelled stamp collection for a fair amount of Mercury dimes. Ironically, I sold them last fall and bankrolled the Scotts National Albums, and a number of MNH collections to start me up again. Funny how that worked out.......... |
