Hi All, I have quite a few sheets, blocks, and little envelopes full of stamps (along with a couple of old world stamp books) - I finally got some images of them. Any worth to any of these? Smithsonian Institution 1846-1946 3 cent US Coast Guard 1945 3 cent 200th Anniversary Birth of Betsy Ross No Date 3 cent Simon Bolivar the Liberator No Date 4 cent Walter F. George No Date 4 cent Have a bunch of these little envelopes. I didn't take the stamps out as I don't know how to handle them (I use gloves for coins, but I'd be afraid of bending the paper..). Canada 1908 Tanna Tuva Jubilee 1936 Thanks for any help!

Well, you have one gem lurking there - the block of Canada 1/2c stamps (if never hinged) books for $30 per stamp in the 2008 Unitrade, and no doubt higher now. Surely a $50 item (or better) on ebay unless there's hidden damage I can't see. Five mint sheets, face value at best. Tannu Tuva, 50 cents. |

Wow.. per stamp? That's more than I thought all of these would be worth combined. Thanks There's no damage that I can see, but like I said, I haven't taken them out of the envelope, either. What's the best way to handle them? How old are the envelopes, can you tell? |

Quote: To answer your other concern on how to handle them Thank you! I think I have a rounded-end pair around here with rubber tips.. Six of the other envelopes were full of more Tanna Tuvas.. however, there were also these next 2. I'll need to see if these Canadas are stuck to each other or if it's just a fold along the perforation. Is Russia of any interest? |

These are the rest of the blocks (these didn't come in the old envelopes like the previous ones), and I don't have pictures of them yet. From what I've read about post-1950 stamps, these would be worth face value?

The Russia stamp is Scott #907, catalog value 30 cents.
All the other mint 3c and 4c commems you have listed, once again, face value at best. The Canada block doesn't look too bad; one stamp has a stain of some kind. In this case, the block is worth about the same as four singles, so no great loss if it comes apart. |

XShift Once you get 50 posts. You can try and sell them here on SCF under the Stamps I want to sell section. Sheets and Plate Blocks aren't good for much more than postage |

Doug, I think the stain may be from the darkened glue on the envelope it was in. It seems to be at the same angle. Is that a possibility? Will it ruin it, and should I keep them out of the envelopes? TinMan, thanks, I may do that. It will mean many posts from me asking questions to try to figure out the worth of the rest of these, though |

I wouldn't look down on tannu touva- I have a bunch but was watching a nice lot yesterday on ebay and it went for $88 plus shipping. Granted it was fairly complete with earlies and zepps . Those and early mongolia are well done and display great. The block of 4 tercentenary are a diamond in the rough. Centering is great for this series as many were really poorly perffed and cut. |

The 1/2c with the stain will simply sell for less than the other three copies. You will sell them as singles, not as a block, and you sell the stained copy last. |

Nitro.. earlies and zepps? What are those? Mine all say 1936 air post issue with with either 3 or 23 written on them.
Doug, thanks for the pointers. Do I cut the perforations, in order to separate cleanly? |

Your glassine envelopes are deteriorating, spreading the adhesive out from the flaps and also releasing minute amounts of sulphuric acid. New glassine envelopes or some other safer storage method is recommended.
Separating the stamps is best done by careful and repeated folding along the perforation lines. Practice on some of those sheets that are best used for postage. |
