Steve, this is how many were drawn into the fold of stamps. Be very careful as it is very addictive.

Phil, I know exactly what you mean. Other than my personal collection I maintain 3 others for my children. I still have hopes of at least one catching the collecting bug.

Hi Stever....

I am always glad to see a new collector young or old. I, and many club members are eager to try to answer any questions you might have.
.......There are no dumb questions.....

I've been collecting about 50 years....my main interests now are the Classic imperfs & early WW both on & off cover. I also have an interest in some modern US material such as the Americana & the Great American series & other defin sets, also on & off cover. I have small FDC & FFC collections (FFC = First Flight covers). Side collections I'm working on include....a cover from every country....covers with lots of color that are not FDC's...and just about any thing that makes me say......."oooooooo look at that !"

I like hunting for odd material that many collectors overlook such as the Toledo brown & bronx blue color errors (mint are easily found but used are not).....Eagle & shield w/line perf....FOC T variety....

I collect small groups but I have an interest in just about everything.

You have fun that is for sure. I think I am one of the rare breeds. I started with a single stamp from an envelope. After that I was hooked and have built me collection from that single stamp.

No one that I know in my family ever collected stamps. It has been a long hard road to build my collection to what it is today. Obtaining the US classics has been a very hard road since I started with zero.

So it all started with the #1392 (Intercollegiate Football Centennial) I was a big Joe Namath fan so at the time I called it the New York Jests stamp because it looked like a New York Jet player.

Now I'm lucky my 12 year old daughter has developed the same interest.

So again welcome.
