It was interesting to see the auction that just closed on ebay (150308479761) for this stamp. Closing bid was $326, and my catalog lists it used at $2400. Of course, condition is important, and it's difficult to really judge condition from any given listing (caveat emptor), still, that seems like a very good price to pay for such a stamp. I am a newbie to stamp collecting, but as a collector and restorer of vintage fountain pens I have a lot of experience using ebay as a resource, and that kind of thing almost never happens in the pen world. There are occasional "steals," but usually a rare pen would be closely watched and end up going for close to its real value.

Cheers...

ebay is one source but I use several and I like Stamp Wants a lot. Here you can see a range of prices fast.

Condition of the stamp is everything thus you can have a very wide value on any stamp.

the stamp in that auction was far off center, losing a small amount of the image off the edge of the stamp. It also has some "shotr perfs". these both take away from th value of the stamp.

Good show! It is nice to have that kind of a comparison database to use as a resource. Clearly, as with most things, the prices are all over the lot. I was only responding to the outcome of one isolated auction, and I will use the StampWants database in the future to get a better feel for values.

Cheers...

I suspect it was reperfed on the left side as well. Still it is a nice stamp for this difficult issue, and seems like a good deal at that price. I don't own this stamp because I want one better centered than that one but can't seem to bring myself to pay what it will cost to get one.
