I guess my story is like many others – started as a kid, put it down for some forgotten reason and am just getting back to it now. So yeah I've got a lot of catching up to do.
I think I got the bug again when I picked up a 'grab lot' of stuff at a garage sale and found a baggie of stamps. I looked through it and there were a couple of older ones (both US & CAN). I'm now hooked again.
I've kept buying 'lots' – it's fun just digging through them to see what is there. I think I've been quite lucky and found lots of different stuff – the usual used and mint stamps, a few small groups of FDC's, some UN stamps, tons of world stamps and some cancelled cheques - including one that might be quite mind blowing because it looks to have been written to one of my great uncles - 93 years ago. It was in somebody's collection because it has 3 2 cent Canadian Excise stamps on it.
I found this site while searching for some stamps that weren't in the books I bought. Reading the posts has been pretty interesting and informative,
Way cool way to get back into stamps! Welcome, I'm pretty new here also. This is really an educational blessing for me. Learning something new every day. DD
Welcome! It is indeed a fantastic hobby and in some ways I too share the same beginnings, having been exposed to the fascinating world of stamps when I was a kid. This is a great site and I'd like to think of all the members as extended friends. All the best.
