Hi all,
I have what I believe is a "rare" Sc 461 perf 11 SLW. I can clearly see the watermark in my signascope so pretty comfortable that its there but I wanted a second look and an opinon as to whether or not I should send in for certification. Thanks for all the help.

My vote: sure, send it in if the watermark looks certain. No serious collector would buy it without a certificate or certificate extention agreement. My biggest concern is that this was an imperforate stamp, reperforated on all sides. The size of the perf holes looks suspect, although the scan could throw this off kilter. In-person examination is required.

Apprecaite it Chasa. I am not concerned about the perfs or watermark. My concerns is that this could be an offset vs. a Flat Plate. 1847usa.com does not stated whether or not there is a watermark on the Offset stamps. Would you know?

You should still send it for certification. The Scott 409 is also flat plate amd single line watermarked. It is often used to fake a 461 by adding fake perforations.

I guess I'll have to send it in but I highly doubt the perfs were faked. This came from a huge hoard (see an ealier thread of mine) and I took this off paper myself. We shall soon see...
