I have placed yesterday (Feb. 28, 2013) new order to the USPS to purchase uncut imperforated sheet of the Muscle Cars; the order went through although there is a message telling that the sheet is on BACK ORDER. Do you have any experience with BACK ORDERS of the uncut sheets? Did USPS increase the previously announced quantity of 2,500 sheets to meet an apparently huge demand?

The jury's out on that one. I had wondered the same thing. I was reminded that SFS is located in Kansas City, where they were in the midst of large snowstorms recently, so there was a suggestion that possible delays of shipments to and from that location were possible.
However, as you suggest, if there is claim of only 2500 Uncut Press Sheets (without die cuts) I find it hard to believe that SFS wouldn't have received the entire shipment of 2500 Press Sheets all at once.
There is also a backorder on other Muscle Car merchandise, but since it's not specifically stamp related, I don't particularly care.
However, if the USPS is going back on their "limited quantity" announcements just to make more money by selling more press sheets, then I (and many other collectors, I'm sure) will have a problem with that. |

The way I see it..The government is full of corruption these days. Everything they do is now being done behind closed doors in secret and they'd do anything for a buck. Sad but true. I can see them claiming 2500 are available but...hey you'll never know. |

I picked up a strip of five of the Muscle Cars from our P.O. yesterday along with a single of Rosa Parks and a single of the Heart. Some members stated they couldn't buy singles or one strip. I didn't have any trouble at all. |

I'm somewhat of a newbie of buying stamps from the clerk(I stopped altogether when the 'stores' closed inside the bigger PO's) and It never occured to me, yet a recent trip to a smaller town I was given the option. |

The one in Cherry Hill, NJ has a box in the back with a sheet of each currently available stamp and you can buy singles there. I just mailed stamps to the UAE, and asked if I could buy stamps to cover the postage when I was in Cherry Hill. The guy behind the counter was THRILLED. He ran back, grabbed a global forever stamps and a half sheet of Washington definitives and went to town making sure that I had enough postage. Then he said "let's make sure we hand cancel this" and off went the package, with a nice hand cancelled global forever stamp for the recipient to keep. |

The standing joke in my local Post Office is that the clerks, when I'm finished mailing stuff, no longer ask "And will you need any stamps today?" They quit asking after I gently reminded them that I had $1500+ worth of postage on hand (I did not say "discount" postage).
New clerk today. Asked me if I needed any stamps. I pleasantly responded, "No, I have more stamps than you do." The other clerks cracked up.
I think some of you SCF buyers will get (my) parcels with 20 to 30 stamps on them next week, for the most part GUMMED, so they will be easy to soak off. |

We had two major snow storms in the Kansas City area within 5 days of each other. A number of shipping services we use for packages have really been backed up. I don't know what impact if any this may have had related to this item. |

The preordered imperforated sheets of the Muscle Cars have arrived safely yesterday. Now I am waiting for the arrival of the preordered imperforated Modern Art sheets. On the USPS web site there are only the perforated sheets available, as of 03-07-2013. The indication is that the imperforated sheets have been sold out on preorders. Regards. I love philately and there will always be those who appreciate the aesthetics of collecting stamps. However these uncut no die cut sheets have me wondering.... Ifstamps began being issued in the US as imperforates in1847, will they go out of being issued as imperfs no die cut varieties in 2017? The last USPS hurrah? I doubt it, but if so it could be a boon to stamp collecting. The recent imperfs being in limited supply, just as the earlies could drive many more collectors into the game. Just an opinion. No scientific backing to it. |
