Well I started collecting mint unhinged U.S. stamps in the early 60's. I went into the Air Force in 1966 and put the stamp collection aside. After 4 years in the service, got married and now that the children are raised and thru college and out on their own, I can finally afford to get back into the hobby. Being retired now also has given me the time to enjoy the hobby.
My collection starts in the 1950's and my goal is to get every U.S. stamp up to the present and then keep current.
It's something I would like to pass on to my grandson some day. He has developed an interest and always wants to see the stamp album to look at the stamps when he comes to visit.
I appreciate the useful info. on the site. Ken

Your story is almost Identical to mine USAF 65-69. You will enjoy the hobby just as I have. I was away from Stamps about 43 years. I had been away so long.I forgot more than I remembered. But after reading most of the previous posts and help from my SCF friends. I am just about back and in many ways more advanced than when I started at 13 years old. Anyway a BIG WELCOME.
