Hello, Im quiet new to collecting stamps. Im not sure what I have as I have bought a massive stamp collection from an aquaintence. I do need help figuring what I have and worth and if at all possible the tricks of the trade. I do find that stamp collecting is fun and a challenge to keep my mind young. :) My name is Rita and Im pleased to meet Ya'll. Im trying to figure out how to upload pictures for Ya'll to see.

Rita! No need to go elsewhere! What you have there are some of the more difficult US stamps to ID! Also you have some nice mis-registration and perforation mis-alignments too some command a nice premium too! Admittedly I'm not an authority on those. The first few you have shown is from the Washington/Franklin issues of 1908-1920 and a much higher resolution image would be needed to properly ID them or at lest to get you in the ball park. Watermarks play a huge roll in the ID of these as well. Again- Welcome!

Also, I think you often have to allow at least 24 hours to get a response, depending on the difficulty of the question. Despite what it says at the bottom of the screen about all the people online, this is more a message board than a chat board, so a lot of people are not just hanging out, but rather are checking the board periodically throughout the day.

Also, the title of the thread just says "Introducing myself", and didn't indicate that there was a question embedded. Even if you had said "Introducing myself -- and asking a question", I think a lot more people would have looked sooner. You may also need to repost the question under the US section to really get some responses.

But Welcome! This is a friendly board, with a lot of well-informed people. I don't know US stamps very well, but the more modern misaligned ones should definitely not be discarded! And your earlier stamps are hard to identify without a good scan.

Welcome Rita ... did you actually register? You made two posts but it says 0. You may need to check that .. .there is a LOT of help here, but you do need to pay attention to the correct areas for postings and to be patient.

Best of luck!

Hello ImNewToThis, welcome!

I like your two mis-perforated stamps, the ones with a shifted holes or perforations or perfs, They are eye-catching.

Some call them errors and some varieties and then some others call them EFOs (short for Errors, Freak or Oddities), a catch-all term.

The two first stamp is nice in that it is well centered, the design centered nicely within the whole edges of the stamp, and there are no cuts, rips or tears to see.

Any little mar or paper fault will drop the value downwards for a stamp.

The second stamp is off center somewhat so is valued less than one like it that would be well centered. But it is nice never the less.

I am new to my basic Scott catalogue so will not offer a balue for any of these. I am more used to Canada stamps and others.

Your library would have a Scott US Specialized catalogue, or you could find one on ebay, or even a used one a few years old. The classic catalogue would value it OK also.

There could be little varieties on either stamp that I would be unaware of and the catalogue would tell you about.

Please stay and show us more of your collection and post in a USA forum on here or Worl or Main if for fioreign or international stamps from other countries. Remember to put the country name in your title so people who know about that area will see it.

As stated by I_Love_Stamps, this forum has members who sign in or look at the forum, and their interest areas as they can. Sometimes days or months go by (for me anyway!) Not all folks will look or reply to this area, the Welcome area, so don't worry. This is more for folks to say Hello and say a bit about themselves than anything else. Only members signed in can view this part of the site.

We all like to see stamps!

Any questions are welcome, about how to use the forum or about stamps or collecting.
