i guess I am pretty limited when it come to collecting U.S. ..the vast majority of precancels I have seen are the Bureau cancels of the 1930's. My new stock book has these earlier guys...true, they are Chicago cancels..but they are new to me !

Very nice older examples. I used to live in that city (well, close enough) and have a few examples, though not that old. Thanks for posting.

By the way, the 15-cent stamp scanned above is a Type L-4E. Here's an example I have that's similar (sorry for the different size image):
