As a general rule, I don't sell or trade anything from my revenue collection unless it's a duplicate or I've upgraded. For the first time, I actually traded away something I could not replace.
Last year I obtained this piece:
https://goscf.com/t/27070It's currently the only reported plate number single that I'm aware of.
Well, a collector contacted me wanting to do an exhibit on R97s, and asked whether I'd be willing to trade it. While I normally would not trade this, I knew that the collector had material that fits more closely in areas I focus on. The above piece, while very scarce, isn't anything more to me than being a nice 1st issue revenue on document. Also, much of the thrill for me is in the hunt or acquisition.
So after some negotiations we arranged a trade. I received the following two items, which are great additions in areas I specialize in.
First is an R6f, a bisect of the 2-cent bank check orange, on a document from Alabama. It's quite attractive in that it's still attached to a pair, the total paying the 5-cent tax. It's tied to the document by the manuscript cancel. There is also an additional separately-taxed transaction on the back of the document.

The second piece is what drove the trade for me. I've really been focusing on illegal usages lately, and this one hits on all cylinders. It's a document with four examples of Scott #76 used illegally as revenues, in combination usage with an R48c and a pair of R15c, paying a 49-cent tax. Not only is it visually appealing, but it also features a great single-line handstamp cancel in blue, a cancel that I didn't have another example of.
