Dear community,
i just received this item from one reliable London auction house,
but I am not sure about authenticity now when I made a little research and compared it with other ones from Siegel or PF database, I think that letter "R" is completly wrong and "T" miss gap in the middle.
What do you think?

Thank you very much for help.

Hi, nice stamp!

You might get more people commenting on it in a different area of the site.
This stamp is neither "Classic" era, or a strictly "U.S." stamp.

I wish I could help you beyond that, but I only collect U.S.
Good luck!

I beg to differ with you ratio411, the stamp itself was printed in 1939 then overprinted in 1944. I'd say that is close enough to call it classic. Also the stamp is listed in the US section of the Scott Specialized Catalog, and does say United States on it.

That being said, I do not believe the overprint is genuine. I am not an expert but the top bar in the letter T is too thick and lopsided. Also, the space between the C and T should be more pronounced that the spacing between the other letters.

It is most likely a forgery. The base stamp is quite common, and the overprinted stamp, as a mint stamp catalogs over $1000. Given that it varies obviously from the catalog description,

I would not even recommend having it expertised unless it was to be able to return the stamp as a forgery.

Best image I could find. This one is from a Siegel auction.

Hope it's legit, if it is it's a nice Stamp. Doesn't look good though.

Smauggie: Just trying to help get an audience.
The post had sat uncommented on for 2 days before I posted.
I guess my post stirred some interest anyway, so I'm just happy to have helped.
