Still being a newbie to stamps, I have the following question:

when does carmine become red?! Is red always bright red?

Is the following stamp red or carmine?

Thanks

Hi! Si! White paper? granite paper? if white paper , my opinion #79. looks awfully rosy to me.
if granite paper could be 73b. then again, Phil might be right on the money. definitely not red,
red in the philtelic world is more of an orange, at least to me.

Red, as Scott defines it, is a surprisingly low key color, not very bright and closer to brick red. Given the choice between the two, I'd say this is carmine.
