According to the latest Linn's, the first stamp to explicitly mention Christmas was Canada's #86, shown below. Please share your oldest with us.

This does rank in my top 10 on the favorite stamp list. I love the stamp and I will even find one to get someday. You have to love the British Empire.

When I was a schoolboy (1970's), we had a map on the back wall of the classroom with the Empire & Commonwealth in pink. It looked very similar to the stamp. We had the portrait of HM The Queen at the front of the classroom, and the Maple Leaf flag. Every morning we sang God Save The Queen and O Canada!

David

There are two variations of the XMAS 1898 Canadian stamp--two colors. When you put the two side by side, it is very obvious that the color of the oceans differ.

If you read the history of the stamp, it was not issued as a Christmas stamp. The designation of XMAS 1898 was more or less an accident, and not originally intended to be on the stamp.
