This one looks too much good to be the original one... could be a reprint or a forgery possibly?

I was unable to find it in the Scott specialized, but, it appeared on some other places on-line.

It is a forgery, or possible album illustration of the Carrier stamp LO2 from 1851.

Edit:

I need to pay closer attention. Brown & McGills is listed in Scott as 5LB2 under Carrier's stamps. I cannot speak to it's authenticity, but I would treat it as a forgery.

Hi Brian, I agree with you... just found an original example, and, it is is pretty different from this one (head of the eagle is totally different).

In fact, it is more similar to the illustration from the Scott, than this another example is...

Filipo - your stamp is a forgery - it is identifiable by the missing "c" and apostrophe in "McGill's".

Also, the stamp you have shown with the pen cancelation is a "Hussey Product". The story of that fake is in 1862 George Hussey (stamp dealer and owner of Hussey's Special Message Post) asked Mr. McGill for remainders of the Brown and McGill stamps. McGill asked Hart & Maypother to reprint 200 from the original stone but, the original stone did not exist. A poor imitation was made and the stamps were sent to Hussey as originals or reprints. McGill at the time, believed the these stamps to be reprints.

I95, thank you very much for the info... it looks that you are more knowledgeable about this subject than anyone on this forum (possibly on the internet at all). I got with this forgery a couple of other (obviously) forgeries, and some bogus issues,too...

i am only not sure is the 1c "adams city' express post" reprint or forgery, do you know anything about it?

I recently bought one of those on cover but that one looks odd to me? Also this one didn't originate on this cover but I still find it quaint.

For that Louisville stamp here's a link to several more examples: http://stampauctionnetwork.com/y/y92537.cfm
I've seen that reprint several times in dealer stock, believe the one I saw was in black ink.

filipo - the Bloods stamp may be real - can you turn over it and Winas/C&W stamps and post the scan of the stamp backs ?
If you like carrier stamps - there'a book by Larry Lyons on Cinderella Carriers forgeries - think it was $20.

Hi Drewf. Those 5 stamps on the first scan are stuck on the old album page, so, I am in doubt to try to soak them or not.

I am not sure why the Bloods stamp has so wide black margins?

Possibly on the scan looks like it is mounted, but... it is a larger piece of a glazed, thick, black paper... with the smaller bronze surface of the stamp printed on it... it looks like some kind of proof?

Far from it but thanks.
Yes, all of the stamps are bogus or forgeries. Using Lyons types from "The Identifier for Carriers, Locals, Fakes, Forgeries and Bogus Posts of the United States" : the Winans' is bogus type C; The C & W Bridge is bogus type 2; City express is forgery type A; Cummings is forgery type A (J.W.Scott?); Bloods is forgery type A (Hussey); Brown and McGill forgery type D; Eagle Post Forgery type A (Hussey); Floyd's Penny Post forgery type A.
Hussey's forgery of the Blood was printed with larger margins.
